My biggest reflection this year…
I realised something about myself this year —
my emotions behave a lot like a stock market chart.
When things are going well, I get confident — sometimes too confident — and assume the good run will continue in a straight line.
Then life dips, something doesn’t go my way… and suddenly I’m imagining worst-case scenarios.
The funny part?
Nothing that happened was actually extreme.
My mind made it extreme.
The events themselves were neutral — but my thinking swung between
“everything is amazing” and
“everything is falling apart.”
When I stopped reacting to every high and low —
and just accepted what was happening —
something shifted.
The emotional swings got smaller.
Life felt steadier.
And honestly, the same lesson applies to investing too.
Markets go up and down… but our emotions don’t need to follow every tick.
How about you?
Have your emotions mirrored a “market cycle” at any point this year? Would love to hear your thoughts.
